Keep Your Garage Safe and Sound02/25/2015 Back To Blog
Security is of utmost priority. The same rings true in terms of garage door. You would want to enjoy optimum protection through the heaviest and largest entry and exit point to your abode. But how do you fortify security?
First, make sure that you have an automatic door operator. Automatic garage door opener installation may cost a good amount of money but that amount is definitely a worthwhile investment because it allows convenient authorized entries. They are often run by remote controls or clickers that are powered by rolling code technology. If you take caution, nothing or no one can permeate your estate without your knowledge or consent.
Second, avail of a garage door lock for added security. Although newer doors have locking mechanisms, you still would want a lockset activated, especially at night or when you are away. If you are going on a long vacation, it is wise to unplug the opener and turn on all locksets. A vacation lock switch, located on your wall station, should also be activated.
Third, make sure that you keep your Genie garage door, or whatever you have installed, closed at all times. You do not want others to have a peek on what you are keeping in your garage, especially the valuables.
Fourth, your garage door remote must be kept in a safe place. Place it in a discreet compartment so people will not be tempted to take it away. If your door is running through a wireless keypad, make sure to change the codes often, especially if you had to share it with another, like your garage door service provider.
Fifth, keep your unit well maintained. None of your security measures will work if your door has misaligned tracks or poorly lubricated wheels.
The Principle of Safe Practice
Secured garage door operation has a lot to do with your choice of unit, your choice of security accessories, your maintenance investments, and how you maximize the value of those by being mindful of safety use practices. Always keep in mind that garage doors are installed to guard your vehicles as well as your entire estate. These days, the heaviest door in the home is also used as the main entry and exit point. If you let an intruder in through your garage, you are practically letting them into the home as well. So, be safe at all times.
